A current policy that portrays one of the principal of good governance would be the annual edusave bursary and scholarship that reward students with outstanding results. The EAGLES award and good improvement award also reward students that have contributed to the community or shown leadership qualities in certain areas and also students who have improved in terms of the results in studies.

This policy is under the principal of meritocracy whereby the government believes in rewarding those that deserves to be rewarded. In this case, the ministry of education reward students that has done well in school. This financial assistance given to students would encourage students to work harder and at the same time inspire the other students who did not manage to get the awards to try harder in studies.

Having these awards serve as both an encouragement and a reward to students. It also serves as a goal which they can work towards in their studies. Thus this policy is good and essential as it would really do the students good if they can see it as a goal. It would make students strive harder to not only get the financial assistance but also the honour of being named as the top students.

In conclusion, i feel that this policy and the principal of meritocracy is important as they ensure fairness. Only then will the government get the support of the people.
